Resources & Programs Screenings CoxHealth offers cardiovascular health screenings designed for the unique differences in risk factors of men and women.For most of the screenings below, patients should be 55 or older and have at least one risk factor. Otherwise, we recommend that you talk to your doctor and let them know you're interested in the screening. Most screenings do not require a physician referral, but we may need a verbal approval from your physician. Please note that these screenings are not covered by insurance. See below for costs. Types of Cardiovascular Screenings> View All Personalized Cardiovascular Risk Factor Assessment This assessment evaluates your specific cardiovascular risk factors. The screening is tailored to the differences in cardiovascular disease for men and women, and provides information on your unique risk factors. No physician referral is required.$50 Carotid Quick Screen This quick screening includes an ultrasound scan of the carotid arteries in your neck to detect plaque, the most common cause of stroke. No physician referral is required.$50 Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screen During this screening, we use ultrasound to scan your abdominal aorta to detect aneurysm. No physician referral is required.$50 Peripheral Artery Disease Screen The PAD screening detects vascular disease in your extremities that may lead to quality of life issues, and identifies any increased risk for heart disease. No physician referral is required.$50 Cardiovascular Screening Bundles Combine two or three of the following: Abdominal Aneurysm Screen, Peripheral Artery Screen or Carotid Quick Screen.$60The All-Inclusive Screening Package includes the Personalized Cardiovascular Risk Factor Assessment, along with all three of the ultrasound quick screens (Carotid, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm, and Peripheral Artery Disease).$95 CT Calcium Scoring A cardiac CT scan for coronary calcium is a non-invasive way of obtaining information about the presence, location and extent of calcified plaque in the coronary arteries—the vessels that supply oxygen-containing blood to the heart muscle. Intended for patients 45 to 70 years old, the test measures your “calcium score” which helps determine and calculate your risk of developing coronary artery disease, such as a heart attack. CT appointments are approximately 60 minutes and the actual scan time is about five minutes. The patient lies on CT Scanner with their arms over their head. No patient preparation is needed for the test. No contrast will be given. No physician referral is required.CT Calcium Scoring is not recommended for patients that have been treated for coronary heart disease or have symptoms associated with heart disease.
