A Message From Our Chief Nursing Officer
It is an honor for me to serve in the role of Chief Nursing Officer at CoxHealth, where safe patient care and clinical excellence is at the center of all our work. In this role, one of my most important responsibilities is to serve in a way that creates the best possible environment for nurses to do their best possible work. We accomplish this at CoxHealth by providing a culture that promotes professional growth, provides supportive education, and encourages the advancement of our nurses.
Recently we launched our journey towards Magnet accreditation. Because we understand the value of including those closest to the patient in the decision-making process, we have developed an active shared governance structure. Our Partnership Councils serve as the infrastructure for nurses to directly impact nursing practice and patient care. I continue to be amazed with the vibrant, positive and influential voice of nursing. Through our Partnership Council, our clinical ladder was developed and implemented. The Clinical Ladder (STAR) serves as the vehicle to encourage nurses to continue to advance professionally.
Our work relationships are built on mutual respect and a shared commitment to healing. It is our goal that all new employees will experience caring interactions and support. Each new employee works closely with a preceptor while gaining familiarity with the facility and surroundings. For new graduate nurses we provide an extensive orientation which includes classes and unit-based support to help them gain confidence and competence in their new career.
We invite you to become a part of our nursing team and to join us in our commitment to excellence as we continue to "be the best for those who need us."
- Karen Kramer, RN, BSN, MSHA, CENP
